Sitaben lives with her husband, son and daughter-in-law. She owns a small cutlery shop in Dholka, Ahmedabad. Till a few years back use to take a loan from the local broker at a higher rate of interest to sustain her business. Which means she had to give all her profit to the broker as part of the repayment. Sitaben got associated with Saath Mahila Savings and Credit Cooperative Society Ltd in the year 2017. She started savings and thereafter applied for the first loan of Rs 15000/- from a co-operative. After repaying her first loan she applied for the second and third of Rs. 35,000/- and then 40,000/-. The second loan was utilized for her son’s marriage and the third loan she used for setting up the same cutlery business for her son and daughter-in-law. At present Sitaben have two shops, one of them is looked after by Sitaben and her husband, whereas the second one is by her son and daughter-in-law. From the profit, Sitaben’s son has also bought a new vehicle which he uses for his business.
